The most common ways PDR is performed

Paintless dent repair (PDR) is a method of removing dents from a vehicle’s body without the need for repainting. The most common ways PDR is performed are:

  1. Pushing: This technique involves using specialized tools to push the dent out from behind the panel. The technician will use different side and shape of tools to access the dent from different angles and apply pressure to pop it out.
  2. Glue pulling: This technique involves heating a specialized adhesive, such as a dent pulling glue, and applying it to the dent. A tool, such as a slide hammer, is then used to pull the dent out from behind the panel.
  3. Tapping: This technique involves using a rubber mallet or a plastic tapping tool to gently tap the dent out from behind the panel. This method can be used on softer metal such as aluminium.
  4. Massaging: This technique involves using special tools, such as a door ding puller, to massage the dent out from behind the panel. This method is used for minor dents and door dings.
  5. Combination: Often a combination of the above techniques is used to repair a dent and the technician will decide on which method to use depending on the location and severity of the dent.
